DEWALT has expanded its contractor line of portable air compressors by adding 12 new models in 2002.

There are now 18 different species of DeWalt air compressor featuring electric or gasoline-powered Honda OHV GX engines with a range of air tank sizes and air performance levels. There are six hand-carry DeWalt air compressor models and 12 with a portable wheelbarrow-style design. Some of the new models have dual-voltage capability to use either 120-volt or 240-volt power. A dual-control feature has also been added, allowing some DeWalt air compressors to operate in either a start/stop or constant run mode.

For maximum durability, DeWalt air compressors have oil-lubricated cast iron pumps. The company uses quick-drain ball valves on its air tanks for easy and thorough draining. Other improvements include the use of protected gauges and heavy-duty components to withstand the elements of a typical worksite.

DEWALT began developing its own line of air compressors with the expertise of Emglo Air Compressors, the industry leader in portable air compressors for professional contractors. Emglo started making air compressors in 1957. DEWALT acquired Emglo in 2000 and has joined resources to initiate a strong presence in the portable air compressor market. As a result, the yellow-and-black DEWALT Emglo Compressors combine user-focused innovation with proven air compressor technology and worksite durability.
